In the Openwave Mobility roll-out, NetSuite Professional Services led an accelerated implementation to deploy the NetSuite cloud technology as the business foundation. Openwave Mobility had a tight timeline. Marlin Equity Partners had acquired the company in early May, and under terms of the acquisition, Openwave Mobility had a limited timeframe to migrate legacy data from an Oracle ERP instance to a new financials /ERP solution. The 2½-month NetSuite implementation was accomplished in roughly one-quarter the time that would have been required to deploy a comparable on-premise ERP system, while avoiding a large up-front capital investment and ongoing maintenance costs of in-house servers, software and storage.

After an evaluation against a competing solution from Epicor, Openwave Mobility selected NetSuite as the cloud platform best suited to quickly implement an integrated business solution tailored to the software industry, with functionality including revenue recognition to streamline accounting of multi-element and deferred revenue sales. Building on core NetSuite capabilities for financials / ERP, the company deployed NetSuite OneWorld SRP to manage global subsidiaries, gaining powerful capabilities for optimise the services business, speed global financial consolidation and achieve real-time visibility into subsidiary services performance. Additionally, NetSuite OneWorld SRP equips Openwave Mobility with capabilities for project management, time and expense reporting, invoicing and resource utilization that are far more efficient and automated than was possible with the pre-acquisition system of Microsoft Project, Exchange and Excel.

"NetSuite proved the ideal solution to meet our unique needs for cloud financials / ERP tailored to the software industry, along with multi-subsidiary management and services resource planning on a global scale," said Kelly Sharpe, CFO, Openwave Mobility. "We now have the tools we need to grow the business. Implementation in just 2½ months is a testament to the dedication and expertise of the Openwave Mobility and NetSuite teams."

"This rapid implementation depended on clear goals, decisiveness and collaboration on the part of both Openwave Mobility and NetSuite Professional Services. Each team executed extremely well," said Tim Dilley, EVP Worldwide Services and Chief Customer Officer at NetSuite. "I'm gratified that we could leverage the deep experience and vertical expertise of our consultants to meet a very aggressive timeline with a complex scope."

Today, more than 12,000 companies and subsidiaries depend on NetSuite to run complex, mission-critical business processes globally in the cloud.
