Environmentally Conscious MPOWERD Better Equipped Than Ever to Support Its Mission

The combination of MPOWERD’s (which stands for Micro Power Design) innovation and dedication to its mission has propelled the company, founded by John Salzinger and led together with CEO Seungah Jeong, from small startup to a global operation. The small Brooklyn, N.Y.-based company, a registered benefit corporation, designs and produces solar-powered lighting products for developing markets, as well as emergency and outdoor applications. MPOWERD's waterproof lanterns, string lights and charging devices have helped developing nations avert over 2.4 million tons of CO2 emissions to date.

Solar Lights Fuel Global Growth

1

21st century business model

MPOWERD is the proverbial right company at the right time. Its business model reflects two fast-growing trends: solar-powered products and socially conscious business mores. With steady growth over its first nine years, amidst pandemic-spurred shifts to remote work and online sales.

2

A series of unfortunate systems

A string of poorly-integrated technology platforms in its early years saddled MPOWERD with complexity. Debts went un-recorded, cash-flow analysis was nonexistent, and the accounts payable system delivered constant surprises, making accurate reporting to board members and shareholders impossible

3

At last, a growth platform

MPOWERD's 2017 NetSuite deployment delivered the adaptive growth platform it sought, setting it up to monitor all aspects of the business from a single database that provides accurate reporting and tracks real-time inventory movement. The company easily transitioned all employees to remote work during the pandemic.

4

Next up: supply chain automation

In 2022, MPOWERD will introduce new power-generation products, as well as enhancements to existing products, fueling an expansion of its retail brand. To support this, the company will look to tap NetSuite's capabilities in inventory and supply chain management.
