A New ERP System Helps Foster Growth

Building on success
CapGen’s focus on family capital has struck a chord with clients, driving impressive growth for the company. Assets under management now total $3.9 billion, and the CapGen team has grown from six people in the early days to a current workforce of 50 employees. The company’s ambitious plans see it aiming to grow significantly over the next five years and began the process to review which ERP solution would fit their requirements.
A new look at finance and HR ‘through more sophisticated ERP’
As a growing company in a highly regulated industry, CapGen soon found it needed a system that could provide a ‘one-stop shop’ for managing financial accounting and human resources (HR) processes across multiple departments. In particular, it needed to streamline management reporting after feeling constrained by its previous Sage system that could not meet its automation objectives.
All together now
CapGen brought all its accounting and financial management activities into one cloud-based system in 2018 using NetSuite, which provided a single platform for all its departments. It followed up with NetSuite SuitePeople in 2020, automating processes for onboarding staff and appraisals, saving a month every year on the appraisal process alone. Going ‘paperless’ was also important for its sustainability stance.
A clear path forward
Centralising and automating accounting processes has boosted HR staff productivity at CapGen and made the production of management reports faster. Employee information is up-to-date and easily accessible, making both the regular appraisal and career development process far simpler.
