Clickstop Turns to NetSuite Analytics Warehouse to Help Diverse Brands Take Next Step

Clickstop is an ecommerce business, but not the typical kind. It includes six brands that span cargo control to building materials to laundromats. The common thread is strong niche brands that can grow with Clickstop’s investment and expertise, especially through better search engine optimisation and search engine marketing. The company started with U.S. Cargo Control, which sells items used to secure and lift loads, and today that brand still accounts for 70% of all Clickstop business.

“Collecting the data and keeping it accurate is important, but it’s insignificant if we aren’t driving meaningful action and decision-making with it. NetSuite Analytics Data Warehouse makes both accurate data collection and strategic decision-making possible.” Cari McCoy, CEO, Clickstop

Forging a Path for Growth

Adding to its portfolio
The business has grown rapidly through acquisition, from $1 million in revenue in 2006 to $75 million. It’s made 12 consecutive appearances on the Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing companies. Hardware retailer Fasteners Plus and laundromat chain Clean Laundry are two of its top-performing brands. All entities rely on shared finance, technology and operations teams to maximise efficiency.
Building for the future
By 2009, Clickstop had outgrown QuickBooks for financials and the spreadsheets it used to manage inventory in its small warehouse. Operating out of a pole barn in rural Iowa, the cloud was an obvious choice to manage financials, inventory and ecommerce, so Clickstop implemented NetSuite.
From barn to data warehouse
The company eventually built its own data warehouse for deeper reporting, but manual data imports/exports and a lack of real-time updates limited its value. Clickstop spotted an opportunity with the new NetSuite Analytics Warehouse, which could pull in data from outside sources like Google and Amazon to monitor key metrics like gross profit after advertising.
Harnessing the power of analytics
Clickstop sees plenty of other opportunities to leverage the analytics warehouse, including for insights into manufacturing and to evaluate potential acquisition targets. As the business looks to expand its distribution operations beyond Iowa, analytics will help it choose where to open new warehouses and the best place to keep specific items.
